Giving young talent a chance. That’s Better.

We often talk about our passion for supporting local graduates and promoting retention within the North East. To back this up we’ve made a commitment to providing opportunities to encourage our awe-inspiring emerging talent to stay in the region.

In a follow up to our recent involvement in Teesside University’s Creative Teesside event, we’ve been working with some of the degree show graduates to plan a summer of internships.

Over the last week we’ve had the pleasure of Fiona’s company. Fiona is a dedicated, highly creative and very lovely designer from North Yorkshire. Rather than us telling you all about it, we asked Fiona to describe her experience…

Spending two weeks with the team at Better has given me a taste of how working within the design industry could be. Fun, creative, challenging, absorbing, all of these things but most importantly – enjoyable.

I have had the opportunity to work on some exciting briefs, which have pushed me outside of my comfort zone in some ways but also provided invaluable opportunity to learn. In the short space of two weeks I have absorbed so much information about print processes, layout, colour, designing for print, designing for web, relationships between designers and developers, relationships between the agency and the client and so much more!

On top of this the team are friendly, welcoming and passionate about pushing the boundaries of design within the North East. Overall, for me the opportunity to gain experience in such a competitive industry has been an eye opener but more importantly, invaluable. Thanks guys
