Vince Cable lavishes praise on the North East’s manufacturing heritage.
- 05/07/2012
It was heartening to see Business Secretary, Vince Cable, in our region yesterday as he visited several companies that are working hard to boost the manufacturing industry in the North East.
In a subsequent interview with ITV News he talked about the importance of manufacturing to the British economy, praising the North East for its ability to continue to build on its manufacturing heritage by developing new technologies to serve our future. Vince specifically referred to the renewable energy sector, something that is very close to our heart, not only because we strongly believe in its benefits, but also because we have considerable experience of working with some of those local pioneers including MPI Offshore and PD Ports.
It’s wonderful to be part of an industry that sees the world differently and which is constantly innovating to bring new ideas to life.
Indeed, last month, some of us attended ‘RenewableUK, Global Offshore Wind 2012’ at ExCeL in London where we had the opportunity to talk with some of the world’s leading players in the field. It is our strong belief that renewable energy is our future – a new frontier for industry – and the positive, ‘can-do’, energised attitude that we experienced that day was akin to gazing at a shining beacon in the twilight of a recession. We are mightily proud to be part of a region that is leading the way, driving innovation, and exporting pioneering products and services to the world.
Working in partnership for a brighter future. That’s Better.
