At the opening of ArtsBank in 2010 and to coincide with the Death Of Steel Exhibition, Better worked alongside the ArtsBank team on a collaboration that brought artists and designers together to pass comment on the demise of the steel industry within the North East.

Better were asked to fill the old safe left within the ArtsBank building with ArtsBank money that was equivalent to the amount used to bail out the banks by the government. This was intended to show how much money had been spent on the banking crisis whilst leaving the steel industry to die.

Each note was identified with a unique number and visitors to the gallery were encouraged to “take as many as you like”. Later a unique number was chosen at random and the holder of that note won an exclusive piece of art from the gallery.
