As part of Better’s ongoing work with ArtsBank we were asked to create an identity and style for the headline opening exhibition at the gallery launch. Focussing on the demise of the steel industry and drawing in works from local artists who had personally been involved with the steel industry on Teesside, Death Of Steel told the people’s story of steel on Teesside and how it’s demise had ramifications throughout the community.

The exhibition’s centre piece was a selection of steel sculptures by local artist Ray Lonsdale. Better photographic images of these pieces combined with poems and words of other artists to create both an exhibition identity and a series of limited edition posters and post cards.
