It’s that time of the year again; the Great North Run is edging closer, and so too are the nerves and preparations facing our half-marathon heroes!
We’ll again have a team running on behalf of our partner charity, the High Tide Foundation, with MD Mark Easby, wife Nikki, Client Services Director Paul Bell, and Digital Director Adam Gatenby, all donning their running shoes and taking to the streets of Tyneside in September.
The same team completed the gruelling 13.1 mile course last year, raising over £1,100 and beating a few personal bests in the process. They’re hoping to go one better this year, with a target of £1,200 and some friendly-office bragging rights up for grabs!
As well as Team Better, runners from a number of other organisations linked to High Tide will be taking part. In total they’ll be 18 runners from businesses and organisations including PD Ports, Lynas Engineering, Rockliffe Hall and DAC Beachcroft.
High Tide are a charity close to our hearts and ever since 2012 we have been supporting the organisation to make a difference to the lives of young people in the Tees Valley. The charity aims to connect education and industry across all key sectors, with an overall mission to increase awareness of career opportunities, showcase the region’s industry and raise aspirations for young people.
This is achieved through their range of innovative programmes, which offer industry insight and unique experiences with industry members. It’s through such support from industry members that High Tide can continue to inspire the future, and with the added help from generous fundraising and events, the future of Teesside is in safe hands.
Skills development and talent retention is a key challenge facing many sectors across the region, with the Creative industry being no different. We’re committed to developing local talent and ensuring we provide the opportunities, through our continued growth, to keep them on Teesside.
Managing Director and High Tide Trustee, Mark Easby, said: “Every business in our region all have one thing in common – we all need good people.
“As a business community, we are increasingly recognising our individual and collective responsibility to help ensure Teesside’s young people are going to be up for the job.
“The programmes delivered through High Tide not only provide real life work experience, but they also offer genuinely unique and life-changing opportunities for young people.
“We’re very proud to be members of High Tide and I’m personally honoured to be a Trustee of a Foundation that’s making so much difference to the area we love.”
High Tide have recently celebrated their 5th birthday and continue to go from strength to strength. With the support of their business and educational members, the charity has engaged with over 1,000 young people, inspiring their future career decisions and opening their eyes to the possibilities on Teesside.
However small or large, we really appreciate any donation or support you can. Head over to our JustGiving page to read more, support the team and help change the lives of young people in the Tees Valley.
