Essex Brewery is a housing redevelopment set on a former brewery site in Walthamstow, London.
In 1859 there were two brewers, one of them being William Hawes, who built the steam-powered Walthamstow Brewery in St. James Street. The Essex Brewery Co. Ltd. was formed in 1871 to buy Hawes's brewery, but apparently failed to attract subscribers, for the brewery was acquired by Collier Bros., who operated it as the Essex Brewery, until 1922. It was then sold to Tollemache's Breweries Ltd., to whom it still belonged in 1968.
The building itself was demolished in 1975. But there are still signs of the brewery’s existence in the immediate area. A nearby pub which seems to be abandoned, having been a nightclub in recent years also bears the brewery’s name.BetterBrandBuilder Design Marketing Web & Digital
To originate an identity that appeals to trendy, cool young professionals & couples.
Authentically alternative living for cool couples and young professionals.
The overall style should be quite slick but not so much that it’s clinical. It needs a degree of edginess that you might find in alternative, non-corporate products. If it were a film it would be Donnie Darko not Transformers. If it were a trainer brand it would be Common Projects not Adidas. If it were a car it would be a BMW 2002 not a Fiesta Mk8. It’s alternative but not in a hippy or punk way, it’s more considered and crafted than the styles associated with those stereotypes.
If we’re looking back to times when everything was simpler then the colour palette could follow this. An uncluttered but bold style — the likes of which you find on cool artisanal products.
